Engineering Design & Leadership Summer Program
The Engineering Design and Leadership Summer Program is an exclusive, eight-day program at Illinois Tech specifically for Von students aimed at teaching students hands-on, practical skills around framing engineering problems and addressing them using a design thinking framework. Students will focus on a real-world problem surrounding energy usage both in a building and at a large-scale event. Activities in the Engineering Design and Leadership Summer Program include:
Conducting a hands-on, on-site energy audit of a building
Conducting an energy audit of the large-scale event, such as a festival
Applying the design thinking framework to creating innovative solutions to problems surrounding energy usage
Presenting solution prototypes to a panel of reviewers
This is a great program for you if:
You’re interested in pursuing engineering, math, or physics in college or a career, or you want to learn more about doing so.
You enjoy and thrive in a hands-on learning environment. The vast majority of this program is “doing”!
You are interested in learning more about design thinking.
You’re a natural leader and want to learn to apply your thinking to solving large-scale problems.
