Opt4STEM Partnership for College Success Program

ILLINOIS TECH

COLLABORATION

Opt4STEM is looking for Illinois Tech student organizations to inspire and mentor Von Students at Opt4STEM events, including:

STEM Enrichment Programs:

A vital part of OptSTEM is providing  Von students with unique opportunities to not only increase their interest in STEM but to enrich their understanding of and experience in these fields. Illinois Tech students are needed at these events to share their passion and knowledge to inspire Von students. Events include Science Fair Projects, Make It Mondays, and Engineering Week.

College and Career Readiness Workshops:

Each workshop is focused on preparing Von students for life after high school. Illinois Tech students are needed to lead small groups or work one-on-one with Von students to complete workshop activities. Workshop topics include Essay Writing, Interview Skills, and Transitioning to College.

Create Your Own Programs:

The "Create Your Own" is a chance for student groups to develop a program for Von students to participate in either at Illinois Tech or at Von Steuben. Interested individuals or groups must submit a one-page proposal to Opt4STEM including:

  • Program overview

  • Targeted participants

  • Learning objectives

  • List materials and quantities needed

  • Suggested program dates, times, and location

NEXT STEPS

Select an Event

Each event is sponsored by one Illinois Tech student organization. Read the description and requirements for each event and select the event(s) your student organization will commit to sponsoring. We as that student organizations commit to at least 2 events per year.

Recruit Fellow Illinois Tech Students

Recruit members of your student organization to help sponsor the event. Each event has a different number of needed Illinois Tech students, so make sure that you have enough students signed up. We will contact you 1 week before the event to confirm.

Make A Difference

Show up to the event on time and ready to have fun!

Recognition and Compensation

To show our gratitude, we will recognize your student organization on our website and social media outlets. In addition, we will provide a small compensation, either monetary or in service hours, to your student organization that will be paid out at the end of each semester.
